I have lost my license twice now and i have decided to raise awareness and write some basic information on laws of the road. Here is what i found
We came up with traffic rules and such so that the roads would be
safer and we would know who is liable for the accident. Every year over 1.17
million people die in road crashes around the world, this is mainly because
people don't always obey traffic laws, or use smart driving skills.
When driving people should always make sure to never speed. speed
limits are made to insure the safety of you and the people on the road around you.
It is important to make sure that not only do you not speed but that you don't
drive to slow. if people around you are driving 10 mph faster than you it can
increase the risk of an accident. Also when speeding if you crash at a faster
rate the crash will be a lot more dangerous. We made speeding limits because it
is greatly believed that if we didn't have them people would speed all the
time. Speed limits are different in different areas of town to make sure that
everyone is safe. In residential areas the speed limit is much slower because
there can be children at play, dogs roaming around, etc, so no matter where you
are make sure that when driving you obey the speed limits.
It is very important that while driving a person should always
make sure that they can see to the best of their ability. Not only should one
be wearing their glasses or contacts if needed they should also make sure that
their windshields are clean and scraped as needed. seeing is a huge part of
driving if you cant see then you are at risk of getting in an accident. Not
only should your windshield be clear, but your windows and rear windshield as
well. It is difficult enough to see behind and around you while your windows
are clean, let alone when they are dirty. Many accidents can happen if you cant
see properly.
For a lot of people (mainly teenagers) distractions in the car are
a big issue, weather it be their cell phones, their music being way to loud,
their friends being crazy while in the car, etc. getting rid of or even
limiting these distractions makes a huge difference on how well a person
drives. distractions can cause the drivers eyes to be off the road for even a
second and this makes them at big risk. make sure that (especially if you are a
teen) when driving you should never have your music to loud, (you need to be
able to hear what it is that is going on around you) that if you do have
passengers in your car that the number should be limited and that they are not
to much of a distraction, and that you NEVER text and drive, or even talk on
the phone and drive, it limits your thinking ability while you are driving.
Keep your eyes on the road! When driving you need to have your
eyes on the road at all times, you never know if something like a kid, dog,
deer, etc might jump in the road in front of you. maybe even the driver in
front of you might stop suddenly and you wont even know it because your eyes weren't on the road. even if for a second your eyes are off the road it can be
dangerous. make sure to be limit distractions in your car when driving. Not
only should your eyes be on the road at all times, they should always be
moving (seeing whats going on around you) you should be looking at whats going
on everywhere in your line of sight. Weather its the car that is right behind
you, or the kids playing with the ball on the sidewalk to your left, you can
not control what others are doing around you, but you can control how fast you
react to it, or changing your speed to the things around you. you should always
know whats going on around you.
When driving never assume that everyone else knows what their
doing drive defensively. most people will trust the other drivers will stop
when their supposed to and fallow all of the traffic laws without even
thinking, but that's how accidents happen. you can not always trust that
everyone on the road is going to do as they should. You shouldn't assume that at
a four way stop after you stop that the car that is coming to the intersection
is going to stop, wait a few seconds and make sure that they really are going
to stop, then proceed.
Drowsy driving is extremely dangerous, your reaction time is
slower, awareness is decreased and judgment is impaired, it can be just as
dangerous as driving drunk. not only are you putting yourself at risk by driving
when tired, but you are also putting those on the road around you at risk. If
you are drowsy don't drive, if you absolutely need to be somewhere you can have
someone else drive, don't put others at risk.
Adjusting your driving habits to the weather is very important
while you are driving. if the road is slick or wet you should be sure to drive
a little slower, and to increase your breaking distance (distance it takes you
to come to a complete stop). If a huge storm is coming it may be necessary to
pull over and wait for the storm to pass over, even if it interferes with your curfew, yours and other peoples safety is more important.
Obey traffic signals and signs. If no one obeyed traffic signals
or signs that driving world would be chaos. there are reason for traffic signal
and obeying them will limit your risk of getting in an accident.
Night time driving for beginning drivers can be dangerous, it is
harder to drive at night because it can be difficult to see, sometimes street
lights and head lights are not good enough for people to be able to see, if you
feel that it is difficult to see at night then you should have another person
drive, or limit your night driving time. Make sure that if you do drive at
night to keep a close eye on everything around you.
Teens are the most likely age group to not wear a seat belt, and i
can not stress enough how dangerous that it is. when you don't wear a seat belt
you can be thrown through the car windshield. Wearing a seat belt can save your
life in an accident.
